Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.82% or 0.795 points to trade at 29.020 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 1.76% or 0.102 points to end at 5.898 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) was up 1.43% or 0.64 points to 45.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which lost 2.42% or 0.474 points to trade at 19.130 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 0.35% or 0.009 points to end at 2.542 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.30% or 0.15 points to 49.83.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 47 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.41% to 11.34.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.97% or 1.35 to $69.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.67% or 1.23 to hit $74.85 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1312.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1944, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8827.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 92.51.
