Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.52% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 4.33% or 6.18 points to trade at 148.80 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 2.89% or 0.05 points to end at 1.78 and Randstad NV (AS:RAND) was up 2.15% or 0.90 points to 42.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.67% or 1.520 points to trade at 89.240 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.07% or 0.112 points to end at 10.334 and Relx PLC (AS:REL) shed 0.92% or 0.175 points to 18.865.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 45 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.83% to 15.31.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.10% or 0.58 to $53.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $61.22 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.45 to trade at $1279.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1304, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8677.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 96.282.
