Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.39% or 0.610 points to trade at 26.185 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 2.39% or 0.06 points to end at 2.74 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.12% or 1.000 points to 90.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aegon NV (AS:AEGN), which lost 0.92% or 0.048 points to trade at 5.182 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 0.71% or 0.016 points to end at 2.234 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) shed 0.33% or 0.14 points to 42.21.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 60 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.81% to 11.45.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.80% or 1.22 to $69.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.91% or 1.43 to hit $76.16 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.65% or 19.70 to trade at $1213.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.77% to 1.1629, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.9044.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.57% at 95.01.
