Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 3.18% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.85 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) added 1.99% or 0.110 points to end at 5.642 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.49% or 0.405 points to 27.515 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 2.15% or 0.52 points to trade at 23.72 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.85% or 1.780 points to end at 94.220 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) shed 1.16% or 0.029 points to 2.475.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 62 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.78% to 11.37.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.50% or 1.05 to $69.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.87% or 0.66 to hit $74.89 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 4.40 to trade at $1225.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1707, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8916.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.24.
