Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 2.71% or 4.80 points to trade at 182.20 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 1.66% or 0.470 points to end at 28.805 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was up 1.31% or 1.16 points to 89.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which lost 1.44% or 0.035 points to trade at 2.397 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 1.36% or 0.57 points to end at 41.25 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 1.01% or 0.190 points to 18.670.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 62 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.83% to 11.50.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.38% or 0.25 to $66.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.63% or 0.48 to hit $76.36 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1302.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1786, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.58.
