Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which rose 2.59% or 0.59 points to trade at 23.33 at the close. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) added 2.25% or 1.72 points to end at 78.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 1.97% or 0.387 points to 20.055 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which lost 1.89% or 2.98 points to trade at 154.66 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.15% or 0.126 points to end at 10.804 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 0.87% or 0.70 points to 79.72.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.26% to 16.87.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 3.06% or 1.54 to $51.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.15% or 1.27 to hit $60.36 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1230.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1373, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.805.
