Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.11% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which rose 1.91% or 0.68 points to trade at 35.99 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.35% or 1.080 points to end at 81.080 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) was up 1.25% or 0.32 points to 25.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which lost 2.23% or 0.55 points to trade at 24.16 in late trade. NN Group NV (AS:NN) declined 1.26% or 0.49 points to end at 38.43 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) shed 1.00% or 1.95 points to 193.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 55 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.96% to 11.40.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.43% or 0.31 to $71.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $78.43 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1290.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.32% to 1.1801, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8748.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.27.
