Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 8.79% or 0.15 points to trade at 1.85 at the close. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) added 1.88% or 0.047 points to end at 2.551 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.41% or 1.220 points to 87.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 2.45% or 0.57 points to trade at 22.74 in late trade. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) declined 2.20% or 0.73 points to end at 32.39 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) shed 1.49% or 1.22 points to 80.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 68 to 67 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.11% to 16.83.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.47% or 0.24 to $51.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.35% or 0.21 to hit $60.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.46% or 5.60 to trade at $1225.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.39% to 1.1332, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8857.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 96.988.
