Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Rubber, Trading & Consumer Goods and Other sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.75% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which rose 9.96% or 1.25 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Lite-On Semi (TW:5305) added 9.91% or 2.15 points to end at 23.85 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.91% or 1.10 points to 12.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Faraday Tech (TW:3035), which lost 9.69% or 3.70 points to trade at 34.50 in late trade. Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) declined 6.29% or 1.10 points to end at 16.40 and Crowell (TW:2528) shed 5.88% or 0.40 points to 6.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 453 to 276 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.48 to $41.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.17% or 0.52 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.23% or 3.15 to trade at $1370.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.70% to 31.478, while TWD/CNY rose 0.10% to 0.2098.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 95.65.
