Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Healthcare and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV:GFINBURO), which rose 3.04% or 1.37 points to trade at 46.24 at the close. Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV:Q) added 3.02% or 4.92 points to end at 167.21 and Gruma SAB de CV (BMV:GRUMAB) was up 1.88% or 6.42 points to 348.54 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA), which lost 5.00% or 3.06 points to trade at 58.26 in late trade. Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA) declined 4.48% or 0.52 points to end at 11.10 and Gentera SAB de CV (BMV:GENTERA) shed 3.88% or 0.90 points to 22.27.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 102 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.40% or 9.70 to $2,397.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.70% or 0.54 to hit $77.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $81.50 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 18.36, while EUR/MXN unchanged 0.00% to 19.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 104.08.
