Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 2.76% or 0.32 points to trade at 11.91 at the close. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) added 2.33% or 0.39 points to end at 17.11 and Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB) was up 1.53% or 1.94 points to 128.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA), which lost 3.42% or 2.33 points to trade at 65.77 in late trade. Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO) declined 2.72% or 1.30 points to end at 46.44 and Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) shed 2.18% or 0.76 points to 34.04.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 118 to 103 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.62% or 14.40 to $2,345.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.16% or 0.94 to hit $81.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.86 to trade at $85.19 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.80% to 17.95, while EUR/MXN fell 0.51% to 19.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 105.14.
