Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB), which rose 7.56% or 2.66 points to trade at 37.53 at the close. Industrias CH, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICHB) added 6.84% or 3.800 points to end at 59.790 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO) was up 4.48% or 4.040 points to 94.270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which lost 6.05% or 0.660 points to trade at 10.280 in late trade. Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) declined 3.34% or 0.500 points to end at 14.390 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) shed 2.77% or 5.180 points to 181.730.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 95 to 50 and 6 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.30 to $1097.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.80 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $53.55 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.01% to 16.2775, while EUR/MXN fell 0.62% to 17.8843.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.00% at 97.23.
