Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ELEKTRA), which rose 6.47% or 17.75 points to trade at 292.02 at the close. Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:ALSEA) added 3.85% or 1.70 points to end at 45.87 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (BMV:GFNORTEO) was up 3.62% or 4.97 points to 142.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO), which lost 3.82% or 1.00 points to trade at 25.18 in late trade. Promotora y Operadora de Infraestructura SAB de CV (BMV:PINFRA) declined 3.10% or 5.88 points to end at 183.82 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV:ORBIA) shed 2.58% or 0.48 points to 18.11.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 136 to 104 and 24 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.29% or 7.80 to $2,666.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.66% or 1.81 to hit $69.91 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.39% or 1.72 to trade at $73.55 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.27% to 20.32, while EUR/MXN fell 0.15% to 21.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.31.
