Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Financials and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 8.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which rose 19.35% or 0.077 points to trade at 0.475 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) added 18.70% or 0.023 points to end at 0.146 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 16.83% or 0.17 points to 1.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lykos Inform. (AT:LYKr), which lost 6.09% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.56 in late trade. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 2.31% or 0.003 points to end at 0.127 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 1.40% or 0.003 points to 0.211.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 9 on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.74% or 8.80 to $1177.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.74% or 1.07 to hit $60.36 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 1.03 to trade at $64.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP fell 0.56% to 0.7252.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 95.11.
