Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Technology and Consumer Products sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which rose 3.70% or 0.60 points to trade at 16.80 at the close. Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) added 3.01% or 0.08 points to end at 2.74 and Genting Bhd (KL:GENT) was up 2.86% or 0.25 points to 9.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MISC Bhd (KL:MISC), which lost 2.84% or 0.26 points to trade at 8.89 in late trade. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) declined 0.92% or 0.04 points to end at 4.30 and AMMB Holdings Bhd (KL:AMMB) shed 0.77% or 0.05 points to 6.44.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 251 to 222 and 35 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.73% or 0.43 to $59.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.56% or 0.37 to hit $66.82 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1186.40 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.09% to 2.7028, while USD/MYR rose 0.47% to 3.6132.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 95.93.
