Investing.com – Malaysia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Plantation and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Genting Bhd (KL:GENT), which rose 4.01% or 0.35 points to trade at 9.07 at the close. IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) added 3.37% or 0.14 points to end at 4.30 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 2.39% or 0.14 points to 5.99 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR), which lost 4.77% or 1.00 points to trade at 19.98 in late trade. Petronas Gas Bhd (KL:PGAS) declined 1.26% or 0.28 points to end at 21.92 and DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) shed 1.16% or 0.07 points to 5.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 239 to 238 and 38 ended unchanged on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.11% or 0.68 to $61.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.82% or 0.55 to hit $67.93 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1192.50 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.18% to 2.7020, while USD/MYR fell 0.08% to 3.5986.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.48.
