Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which rose 11.59% or 13.40 points to trade at 129.00 at the close. Boskalis Westmin (AMS:BOSN) added 1.11% or 0.51 points to end at 45.87 and Philips Kon (AMS:PHG) was up 1.02% or 0.26 points to 25.18 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AMS:KPN), which lost 2.44% or 0.085 points to trade at 3.401 in late trade. OCI (AMS:OCI) declined 2.02% or 0.560 points to end at 27.130 and Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP) shed 1.96% or 4.85 points to 243.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 120 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.51% to 16.70 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.66% or 0.96 to $58.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.48% or 0.94 to hit $64.97 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.22% or 2.60 to trade at $1209.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.1093, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.7134.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 95.68.
