Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Obrascon Huarte Lain (MC:OHL), which rose 4.12% or 0.226 points to trade at 5.716 at the close. Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) added 2.22% or 0.153 points to end at 7.041 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 1.65% or 0.060 points to 3.705 in late trade.
Biggest losers included B. Sabadell (MC:SABE), which lost 1.51% or 0.025 points to trade at 1.633 in late trade. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) declined 1.38% or 0.037 points to end at 2.640 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) shed 1.37% or 0.012 points to 0.866.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 111 to 101 and 13 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.57% or 19.20 to $1241.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.39% or 0.94 to hit $38.45 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.01% or 0.82 to trade at $40.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.1259, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7837.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 95.42.
