Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Goods and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 1.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were FCC (MC:FCC), which rose 28.14% or 1.566 points to trade at 7.130 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 4.29% or 0.148 points to end at 3.600 and Sacyr (MC:SCYR) was up 2.43% or 0.045 points to 1.895 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which lost 3.85% or 0.410 points to trade at 10.240 in late trade. Telefonica (MC:TEF) declined 3.44% or 0.370 points to end at 10.375 and Gas Natural (MC:GAS) shed 2.63% or 0.510 points to 18.875.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 157 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.65% or 17.30 to $1066.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.09% or 0.03 to hit $34.98 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.06 to trade at $37.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.0838, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.7276.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 98.90.
