Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pao Lung (TW:1906), which rose 9.99% or 0.81 points to trade at 8.92 at the close. Phytohealth (TW:4108) added 9.92% or 3.00 points to end at 33.25 and Abnova (TW:4133) was up 9.90% or 3.05 points to 33.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yoko Tech (TW:6131), which lost 10.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 9.00 in late trade. Cci (TW:6230) declined 9.74% or 15.00 points to end at 139.00 and Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) shed 9.65% or 0.79 points to 7.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 488 to 280 and 77 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.44% or 0.16 to $36.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.48% or 0.19 to hit $39.84 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.40% or 5.10 to trade at $1257.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.42% to 32.918, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.1980.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 97.40.
