Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.03% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.07% or 0.42 points to trade at 39.77 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 0.95% or 0.60 points to end at 63.62 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 0.40% or 0.25 points to 62.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 6.71% or 3.19 points to trade at 44.43 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 4.01% or 2.720 points to end at 65.110 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 2.14% or 1.510 points to 69.150.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 40 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.23% or 2.86 to $1246.36 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.85% or 0.37 to hit $43.14 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.02% or 0.47 to trade at $45.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8803.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 97.36.
