Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Insurance and Fishery sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 10.60% or 345.0 points to trade at 3600.0 at the close. Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (T:7202) added 5.54% or 67.5 points to end at 1285.5 and Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (T:4507) was up 4.50% or 220.0 points to 5104.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which lost 5.28% or 21.0 points to trade at 377.0 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) declined 3.48% or 200.0 points to end at 5540.0 and Nitto Denko Co (T:6988) shed 3.43% or 237.0 points to 6673.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 970 to 896 and 190 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.67% to 21.79.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 2.09% or 0.95 to $46.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.77% or 0.85 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.17% or 2.35 to trade at $1351.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 101.66, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 114.44.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 94.84.
