Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Warehousing and Rubber sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501), which rose 16.23% or 62.00 points to trade at 444.00 at the close. Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502) added 7.40% or 91.00 points to end at 1,320.00 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was up 5.24% or 104.50 points to 2,100.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which lost 4.65% or 180.00 points to trade at 3,690.00 in late trade. Sony Corp (T:6758) declined 3.94% or 480.00 points to end at 11,715.00 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) shed 3.08% or 140.00 points to 4,410.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2431 to 1127 and 205 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.70% to 20.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.62% or 2.57 to $95.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.37% or 2.44 to hit $100.34 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 1.10 to trade at $1,944.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.74% to 125.25, while EUR/JPY rose 1.01% to 136.58.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 99.83.
