Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Finance & Investment and Textile sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7912), which rose 5.72% or 286.00 points to trade at 5,290.00 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) added 4.67% or 170.00 points to end at 3,807.00 and Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) was up 4.62% or 136.50 points to 3,092.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsubishi Electric Corp (TYO:6503), which lost 4.42% or 116.00 points to trade at 2,509.50 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) declined 4.33% or 118.50 points to end at 2,620.50 and Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005) shed 4.27% or 14.00 points to 313.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2741 to 888 and 214 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.17% to 17.61.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.41% or 0.32 to $78.18 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.40% or 0.33 to hit $82.27 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.11% or 26.25 to trade at $2,328.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.31% to 157.20, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 169.79.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 104.43.
