Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Railway & Bus and Warehousing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 4.07% or 5.0 points to trade at 128.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) added 3.17% or 91.0 points to end at 2960.0 and Taisei Corp. (T:1801) was up 2.50% or 125.0 points to 5130.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Familymart Ltd (T:8028), which lost 11.27% or 1300.0 points to trade at 10230.0 in late trade. Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706) declined 5.05% or 165.0 points to end at 3100.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) shed 3.02% or 59.0 points to 1897.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2331 to 1055 and 215 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.71% to 17.24.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.20% or 0.13 to $65.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.63% or 0.45 to hit $72.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.95% or 11.30 to trade at $1195.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 110.63, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 126.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 96.16.
