Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Financial Services, Warehousing and Railway & Bus sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770), which rose 13.68% or 158.00 points to trade at 1,313.00 at the close. SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:9412) added 7.86% or 33.00 points to end at 453.00 and Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) was up 6.72% or 408.00 points to 6,480.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Z Holdings Corp (TYO:4689), which lost 9.83% or 50.60 points to trade at 464.00 in late trade. Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) declined 4.78% or 430.00 points to end at 8,560.00 and Resona Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8308) shed 3.42% or 19.30 points to 545.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1813 to 1713 and 241 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.79% to 25.07.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.16% or 0.17 to $104.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.16% or 0.17 to hit $106.97 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.39% or 26.55 to trade at $1,885.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.27% to 130.18, while EUR/JPY rose 0.34% to 137.31.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 103.26.
