Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Rubber and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.98% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 4.31% or 10.0 points to trade at 242.0 at the close. NTN Corp. (T:6472) added 4.07% or 15.0 points to end at 384.0 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (T:9009) was up 4.06% or 58.0 points to 1488.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201), which lost 2.18% or 15.0 points to trade at 672.0 in late trade. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) declined 2.01% or 6.0 points to end at 292.0 and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) shed 1.83% or 21.0 points to 1124.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1357 to 494 and 146 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.15% to 25.81.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.51% or 0.25 to $49.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.30% or 0.15 to hit $50.21 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.75 to trade at $1214.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 111.19, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 123.75.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.72.
