Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Warehousing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 4.80% or 109.0 points to trade at 2378.0 at the close. Sharp Corp. (T:6753) added 4.69% or 5.0 points to end at 111.5 and Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) was up 3.81% or 17.0 points to 463.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teijin Ltd. (T:3401), which lost 4.26% or 15.0 points to trade at 337.0 in late trade. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) declined 4.15% or 246.0 points to end at 5688.0 and Yamaha Corp. (T:7951) shed 4.10% or 117.0 points to 2737.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 989 to 914 and 139 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.78% to 29.67.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.76% or 0.38 to $49.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.72% or 0.37 to hit $50.95 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.61% or 8.15 to trade at $1318.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.20% to 102.62, while EUR/JPY fell 0.38% to 113.99.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 95.80.
