Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 3.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (T:9531), which rose 11.18% or 261.0 points to trade at 2595.0 at the close. Terumo Corp. (T:4543) added 11.02% or 365.0 points to end at 3677.0 and DIC Corp (T:4631) was up 10.48% or 234.0 points to 2466.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752), which lost 4.52% or 37.0 points to trade at 781.0 in late trade. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 3.91% or 9.0 points to end at 221.0 and Rakuten Inc (T:4755) shed 1.58% or 13.0 points to 809.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2965 to 721 and 109 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 48.28.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.58% or 0.13 to $22.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.03% or 0.27 to hit $26.07 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.40% or 23.15 to trade at $1628.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.60% to 108.92, while EUR/JPY fell 0.73% to 119.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 99.618.
