Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Steel and Fishery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were LY Corp (TYO:4689), which rose 7.76% or 28.30 points to trade at 392.90 at the close. TDK Corp (TYO:6762) added 6.32% or 560.00 points to end at 9,423.00 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714) was up 5.80% or 313.00 points to 5,711.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mercari Inc (TYO:4385), which lost 3.18% or 66.50 points to trade at 2,027.50 in late trade. Takeda Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4502) declined 2.95% or 123.00 points to end at 4,044.00 and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) shed 2.58% or 81.00 points to 3,057.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2360 to 1232 and 256 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 12.65% to 18.35 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.16% or 0.13 to $79.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.15% or 0.13 to hit $84.12 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 6.65 to trade at $2,335.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 157.93, while EUR/JPY rose 0.07% to 169.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 105.00.
