Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Gas & Water, Transportation Equipment and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253), which rose 6.24% or 216.00 points to trade at 3,680.00 at the close. Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (TYO:4183) added 5.14% or 175.00 points to end at 3,582.00 and Resonac Holdings Corp (TYO:4004) was up 4.66% or 177.00 points to 3,978.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which lost 2.74% or 60.50 points to trade at 2,149.00 in late trade. Suzuki Motor Corp. (TYO:7269) declined 2.27% or 38.00 points to end at 1,638.00 and IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) shed 2.20% or 192.00 points to 8,529.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2256 to 1297 and 307 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.99% to 23.42.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.09% or 0.06 to $70.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $74.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.74% or 19.80 to trade at $2,694.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.21% to 154.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.09% to 162.03.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 107.17.
