Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324), which rose 9.82% or 380.00 points to trade at 4,250.00 at the close. Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7012) added 7.36% or 332.00 points to end at 4,845.00 and M3 Inc (TYO:2413) was up 6.95% or 81.00 points to 1,246.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Keyence (TYO:6861), which lost 3.85% or 2,580.00 points to trade at 64,420.00 in late trade. Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098) declined 2.37% or 201.00 points to end at 8,286.00 and LY Corp (TYO:4689) shed 2.36% or 9.10 points to 376.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2242 to 1439 and 200 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.87% to 45.28.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.23% or 0.18 to $77.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $79.90 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.61% or 15.25 to trade at $2,494.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 147.21, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 162.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.41.
