Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Precision Instruments and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803), which rose 19.70% or 500.00 points to trade at 3,038.00 at the close. Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) added 14.83% or 1,000.00 points to end at 7,742.00 and Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801) was up 7.77% or 434.00 points to 6,021.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which lost 15.47% or 489.00 points to trade at 2,672.00 in late trade. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 12.07% or 460.00 points to end at 3,350.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) shed 7.32% or 123.50 points to 1,563.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2616 to 1126 and 142 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 12.05% to 45.02.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $76.21 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $79.12 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 5.60 to trade at $2,457.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 147.12, while EUR/JPY rose 0.02% to 160.75.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 102.96.
