Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Financial Services and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JTEKT Corp. (TYO:6473), which rose 5.61% or 57.50 points to trade at 1,083.00 at the close. Nissui Corp (TYO:1332) added 4.54% or 40.60 points to end at 935.00 and Yokogawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6841) was up 4.36% or 167.00 points to 3,994.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which lost 4.32% or 1,245.00 points to trade at 27,580.00 in late trade. Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) declined 3.07% or 70.50 points to end at 2,228.50 and Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) shed 1.86% or 64.00 points to 3,370.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2783 to 871 and 219 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.20% to 25.43.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $77.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $80.36 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 3.55 to trade at $2,551.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.18% to 144.77, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 161.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 100.74.
