Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Transport and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which rose 8.38% or 290.00 points to trade at 3,750.00 at the close. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) added 8.09% or 220.00 points to end at 2,940.00 and Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706) was up 5.80% or 190.00 points to 3,465.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (T:9531), which lost 2.89% or 67.00 points to trade at 2,252.00 in late trade. JTEKT Corp. (T:6473) declined 2.85% or 27.00 points to end at 920.00 and Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) shed 2.78% or 135.00 points to 4,725.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2360 to 1201 and 228 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.02% to 27.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 2.02% or 2.08 to $105.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.53% or 1.63 to hit $108.27 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.45% or 8.65 to trade at $1,934.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.28% to 118.93, while EUR/JPY rose 0.17% to 131.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 98.14.
