Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Steel and Warehousing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631), which rose 11.55% or 673.00 points to trade at 6,499.00 at the close. Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) added 7.17% or 378.00 points to end at 5,650.00 and Ebara Corp. (TYO:6361) was up 5.21% or 115.00 points to 2,323.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO:7832), which lost 3.83% or 126.00 points to trade at 3,167.00 in late trade. Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902) declined 3.33% or 22.90 points to end at 664.00 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO:4503) shed 3.31% or 53.50 points to 1,561.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2359 to 1188 and 309 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.76% to 23.22.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.12% or 0.08 to $69.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 11.50 to trade at $2,626.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.10% to 154.50, while EUR/JPY fell 0.21% to 163.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.20.
