Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531), which rose 3.44% or 49.0 points to trade at 1474.0 at the close. East Japan Railway Co. (T:9020) added 2.98% or 320.0 points to end at 11055.0 and Sojitz Corp. (T:2768) was up 2.75% or 11.0 points to 410.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included SUMCO Corp. (T:3436), which lost 2.75% or 71.0 points to trade at 2513.0 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) declined 2.26% or 41.0 points to end at 1769.5 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) shed 2.12% or 53.0 points to 2449.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1937 to 1358 and 256 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.17% to 15.38.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.38% or 0.25 to $66.35 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.50% or 0.38 to hit $76.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1301.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.18% to 110.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.35% to 130.12.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 93.50.
