Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which rose 8.75% or 270.0 points to trade at 3355.0 at the close. Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (T:4507) added 6.56% or 396.0 points to end at 6434.0 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) was up 5.43% or 235.0 points to 4565.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (T:5713), which lost 6.61% or 297.0 points to trade at 4195.0 in late trade. Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T:1925) declined 3.89% or 132.0 points to end at 3259.0 and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (T:8801) shed 3.16% or 82.0 points to 2511.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2217 to 1338 and 206 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 19.55.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.96% or 1.30 to $67.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.52% or 1.05 to hit $70.09 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 8.30 to trade at $1734.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 110.46, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 129.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 93.010.
