Benzinga - Former President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump has broken her silence on her father's indictment.

On Friday, the businesswoman-turned-advisor shared a statement on her Instagram story, saying "I love my father, and I love my country. Today, I am pained for both."

"I appreciate the voices across the political spectrum expressing support and concern," she added.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner also shared this thoughts, saying that the indictment secured by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg was “very unprecedented” and “very troubling”.

“I think that it shows, obviously, the fear that the Democrats have of Trump and the political strength that he has,” the New York Post quoted him saying.

Earlier, People reported that Ivanka has been maintaining her distance from her father and his campaign.

"Even though Ivanka loves her dad, she knows how impossible he can be," the magazine quoted an unnamed source.

Another source told the magazine that there is no personal beef between father and daughter.

"Donald does what he wants, and she can't help him now. His help is in the hands of his lawyers and advisers," the source said. "She is no longer working in that capacity."

Last month, a Manhattan grand jury indicted Trump for his alleged role in a hush money payment of $130,000 to adult film actress Stormy Daniels that Trump's then-lawyer Michael Cohen had made shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

Last week, Trump warned of potential "death & destruction" if he faced criminal charges in the hush money payment probe. He attacked Bragg and other state and federal prosecutors investigating him in Washington, D.C. and Georgia.

GOP politicians have also taken to social media to express their anger after reports indicated that Trump would be arraigned on Tuesday.

The former president is expected to fly to New York on Monday and stay at Trump Tower overnight ahead of his planned arraignment Tuesday, reports the Associated Press.
