Proactive Investors - ITV PLC (LON:ITV) signed a new deal with Sky Sports on Friday allowing it to broadcast EFL Cup and Championship football games over the next couple of years.
Starting from January next year, the broadcaster will show a select amount of games from the cup and league, beginning with next season’s Carabao Cup semi-final.
Games being shown by ITV will also be available on Sky Sports as part of the agreement.
All EFL clubs have agreed to the deal, with the league’s regulators having waved it through.
ITV’s contract will run until the end of the 2026/27 campaign and each full season will see the group broadcast at least nine EFL Cup games including the final and games from the semis and quarters.
In addition, the London-listed company will simultaneously broadcast ten matches from the EFL Championship throughout a full season, while five will be shown in the next campaign.
It comes after Sky Sports signed a groundbreaking new deal with the EFL to broadcast more than 1,000 games a season, with all 72 teams set to be shown over 20 a year.
