Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI:STM), which rose 3.33% or 0.280 points to trade at 8.700 at the close. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) added 1.14% or 0.075 points to end at 6.670 and Exor (MI:EXOR) was up 0.75% or 0.29 points to 38.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 7.39% or 0.0194 points to trade at 0.2431 in late trade. Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) declined 4.78% or 0.335 points to end at 6.675 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) shed 3.83% or 0.0900 points to 2.2600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 257 to 150 and 26 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 3.29% or 1.60 to $47.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 3.59% or 1.82 to hit $48.86 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.30 to trade at $1275.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.0975, while EUR/GBP fell 0.47% to 0.8974.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 98.37.
