Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 4.96% or 0.36 points to trade at 7.62 at the close. Luxottica Group (MILAN:LUX) added 1.69% or 1.00 points to end at 60.25 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was up 0.78% or 0.08 points to 10.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI), which lost 2.61% or 0.310 points to trade at 11.570 in late trade. Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) declined 2.61% or 2.15 points to end at 80.20 and ENI (MILAN:ENI) shed 2.39% or 0.33 points to 13.49.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 284 to 177 and 4 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.99% or 0.39 to $38.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.34% or 0.14 to hit $43.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.31% or 14.90 to trade at $1123.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.08% to 1.1395, while EUR/GBP rose 0.29% to 0.7363.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 94.81.
