Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which fell 0.40% or 0.0025 points to trade at 0.6270 at the close. Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO) fell 2.04% or 0.3000 points to end at 14.4100 and Banca Popolare Milano (MILAN:PMII) was down 0.31% or 0.0030 points to 0.9515 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which added 5.14% or 0.53 points to trade at 10.85 in late trade. ENI (MILAN:ENI) added 0.30% or 0.05 points to end at 16.75 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) shed 0.13% or 0.010 points to 7.750.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 258 to 221 and 3 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 5.82% or 3.14 to $50.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 4.58% or 2.71 to hit $56.40 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.60% or 7.30 to trade at $1203.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.7250.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 98.03.
