Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Chemicals and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB lost 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 2.76% or 0.39 points to trade at 14.50 at the close. Moncler SpA (MILAN:MONC) added 1.90% or 0.32 points to end at 17.20 and Prysmian (MILAN:PRY) was up 1.76% or 0.36 points to 20.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which lost 6.64% or 0.485 points to trade at 6.815 in late trade. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) declined 3.39% or 0.40 points to end at 11.40 and Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) shed 3.34% or 0.29 points to 8.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 252 to 208 and 4 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.03% or 1.03 to $49.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.06% or 0.60 to hit $56.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.03% or 11.40 to trade at $1092.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.0887, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.6982.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 97.84.
