Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Monday, as in the sectors propelled shares .

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (BIT:BMPS), which rose 2.32% or 0.15 points to trade at 6.81 at the close. Bper Banca SpA (BIT:EMII) added 1.42% or 0.09 points to end at 6.13 and Hera (BIT:HRA) was up 1.18% or 0.04 points to 3.43 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics (BIT:STMMI), which lost 1.60% or 0.39 points to trade at 24.01 in late trade. Interpump Group (BIT:ITPG) declined 1.16% or 0.50 points to end at 42.66 and Prysmian SpA (BIT:PRY) shed 0.74% or 0.46 points to 61.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 261 to 240 and 54 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.27% or 0.90 to $71.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.92% or 0.68 to hit $74.47 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.60% or 15.79 to trade at $2,616.11 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 108.04.
