Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 2.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT), which rose 5.98% or 0.0420 points to trade at 0.7445 at the close. Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 5.16% or 0.6300 points to end at 12.8500 and Snam (MI:SRG) was up 4.76% or 0.237 points to 5.215 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which lost 5.45% or 0.184 points to trade at 3.190 in late trade. UBI Banca (MI:UBI) declined 5.23% or 0.1380 points to end at 2.5000 and Unipol (MI:UNPI) shed 4.62% or 0.104 points to 2.146.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 254 to 147 and 20 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 2.90% or 1.39 to $49.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 2.88% or 1.42 to hit $50.68 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.70% or 9.25 to trade at $1327.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP fell 0.72% to 0.8233.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.80.
