Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA), which rose 4.37% or 0.260 points to trade at 6.210 at the close. Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO) added 3.50% or 0.090 points to end at 2.660 and Unipol (MI:UNPI) was up 2.89% or 0.080 points to 2.848 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which lost 8.64% or 0.0255 points to trade at 0.2695 in late trade. Saipem (MI:SPMI) declined 2.99% or 0.0125 points to end at 0.4060 and Tenaris (MI:TENR) shed 2.90% or 0.39 points to 13.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 224 to 186 and 32 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.18% or 0.59 to $49.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.46% or 0.74 to hit $50.05 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.40% or 5.05 to trade at $1268.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.0914, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 98.58.
