Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB rose 1.17% to hit a new 3-year high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 0.82% or 0.0050 points to trade at 0.6170 at the close. Banco Popolare (MILAN:BAPO) added 1.84% or 0.2600 points to end at 14.4000 and Banca Popolare Milano (MILAN:PMII) was up 1.32% or 0.0125 points to 0.9610 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which added 5.23% or 0.61 points to trade at 12.27 in late trade. ENI (MILAN:ENI) added 1.75% or 0.30 points to end at 17.43 and CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) gained 6.40% or 0.495 points to 8.225.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 321 to 166 and 3 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.62% or 2.46 to $55.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 4.26% or 2.54 to hit $62.35 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.60 to trade at $1196.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.0608, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.7180.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 99.16.
