Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Food & Drug Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN), which rose 6.22% or 11.50 points to trade at 196.50 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 5.71% or 46.50 points to end at 860.90 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was up 4.19% or 7.10 points to 176.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which lost 0.74% or 3.10 points to trade at 415.80 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 0.47% or 5.000 points to end at 1070.000 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 0.47% or 5.00 points to 1062.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1421 to 719 and 438 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.15 to $1317.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.74% or 0.76 to hit $44.38 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.77% or 0.81 to trade at $46.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.3050, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8564.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 95.73.
