Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Resources and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iaso (AT:IASr), which rose 6.63% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.418 at the close. Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr) added 6.21% or 0.022 points to end at 0.375 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) was up 6.02% or 0.380 points to 6.650 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metka (AT:MTKr), which lost 16.74% or 1.18 points to trade at 5.87 in late trade. Mytilineos Holdings SA (AT:MYTr) declined 4.89% or 0.300 points to end at 5.840 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) shed 4.76% or 0.010 points to 0.200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 38 and 20 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 3.05% or 35.50 to $1128.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.88% or 0.45 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.13 to trade at $53.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.20% to 1.0408, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8382.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.21% at 103.26.
